In order to minimize the adverse impacts of global climate change and to prepare societies for the possible effects, United Nation’s Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) entered into force on 21 March 1994. Turkey ratified the convention in 2004. Parties to the convention must submit their national reports on their actions against climate change to the Conference of the Parties. In this regard, a project on preparation of the national communication was initiated in 2013 with the cooperation between MoEnvironment and the Environment and Cleaner Production Institute of TUBITAK-MAM. Project covers the preparation of the 6th National Communication and sector-specific greenhouse gas projections. Furthermore, a web portal for archiving the National Communications and data input was prepared. The project closing ceremony was held on 8 March 2016 and Prof.Dr.Mehmet SOMUNCU represented the EFT at the ceremony.
